    Welcome - Childhood Cancer Careline

    Our quilt project "Celebrate Life"

This project was originally a national initiative in which 44 Childhood Cancer Awareness Quilts, representing over 2,200 children from the US were displayed alongside each other in Washington D.C. on September 26, 1998 during "The March To Conquer Cancer".

The Quilt honors our brave children and is aimed at raising public awareness about the issues that surround childhood cancer. Quilt squares can be made for any child who lives in Washington State and has cancer, survived cancer, died from cancer, or is an adult survivor of childhood cancer. Squares are also included for children who live in other states but were treated in Washington State.

    How can you help?

Yes! I said "we need your help" twice to stress that we need to make more panels! The Childhood Cancer Awareness Project -- the organization that coordinates national displays of all states' cancer quilts -- has set a new size. From now on, all states will be making 5-foot square panels containing 25 individual squares (the existing panels are 5-foot wide and 10-foot tall! Too tall to fit in most displays unless they're folded).

If you have a child on-treatment now, a child who has completed treatment, know an adult survivor or an angel who should be honored, now is the time. We need as many individual quilt squares as we can gather.

We will continue to make panels as long as children are diagnosed with one of these horrible diseases. The quilt is intended to serve as a tribute to all the children who have battled cancer. The Washington quilt accepts squares from any child treated at a facility in this state or any adult survivor who now calls Washington home.
